For the past twenty years, I have been creating these unique characters. My imagination seems to conjure new ones daily. Born of the gray matter in my skull, informed by the starry skies, the Utah mountains, and the shrine of the sea monkeys, they spring to life with the slightest of summons. When asked where my ideas come from, my answer is that they have always been there, lurking in the corners of my mind. My creative process involves building up and building onto the layers of these beings. One will arrive unannounced and demand that I embellish and personalize upon the initial image. Once established, I look for the narrative features; when and where in the story is the character, what does the character need to participate in the story, and just what is the story?  I find that some of the wonder and beauty is that the story is different yet equally compelling for each viewer. In the final step of the creative process, I incorporate the technical aspects of my art and choose the style and techniques that will make the image its most striking.

I couldn’t be happier knowing that these wretched souls are finding homes, for there are more waiting to take their places.
